Admission

Bineswar Brahma Engineering College offers Bachelor in Technology (B.Tech.) programs in four different disciplines. These four year B.Tech. programs are:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

Admission Procedures

Students are admitted to the B.Tech. programs depending on their eligibility as under:

  1. Students seeking admission after Higher Secondary Examination of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, or its equivalent are admitted through a Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Government of Assam.
  2. The Government of Assam also conducts a Lateral Entrance Examination for Lateral Entry which can be opted after completion of the 3-year Polytechnic Diploma from the state of Assam for getting admitted to the B.Tech. programs in 3rd semester.

Eligibility Criteria

a) Admission after Higher Secondary Examination or its equivalent

  1. Be an Indian Citizen, and a permanent resident of Assam.
  2. Pass the Higher Secondary Examination of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, or its equivalent, in which the subjects English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics have been cleared in the same sitting.
  3. Pass the qualifying examination securing a minimum aggregate of 50% (45% for SC and 40% for ST candidates) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
  4. Must appear for the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Assam.
  5. Must not be above 21 years or below 17 years of age on the first of August of the admission year.
  6. Must be of good moral character.
  7. Must be physically and mentally fit.

b) Lateral Entry after 3-year Polytechnic Diploma

  1. Be an Indian Citizen and permanent resident of Assam.
  2. Pass the 3-year Polytechnic Diploma from Assam in the relevant branch.
  3. Secure minimum aggregate marks as prescribed by the Directorate of Technical Education.
  4. Must appear for the Lateral Entrance Examination.
  5. Must satisfy the prescribed age criteria.
  6. Must be of good moral character.
  7. Must be physically and mentally fit.

Selection Procedure

Candidates for general seats are selected strictly on the basis of merit in the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by the Director of Technical Education, Assam.

The examination includes:

  1. Mathematics – 100 Marks – 2 Hours
  2. Physics – 100 Marks – 2 Hours
  3. Chemistry – 100 Marks – 2 Hours

Merit lists are published by the Directorate of Technical Education, Assam. Reserved category candidates must also appear in the examination and are selected according to reservation rules and merit.

Choice of Course of Study

Candidates must indicate their preferred branch of Engineering in the application form. Branch allocation is done based on candidate preference and performance in the Common Entrance Examination (CEE).

How to Apply

For Admission through CEE

The CEE application process generally starts during March or April every year. Notifications are published in leading newspapers and the Assam Gazette.

Reserved Category Requirements:

  1. Freedom Fighter quota applicants must provide the required government certificates.
  2. Children of Central Government employees posted in Assam must provide school and residence certificates.
  3. Children of Ex-Defense personnel must provide valid supporting certificates.
  4. SC, ST, OBC, Tea Garden, and Ex-Tea Garden candidates must submit valid caste/category certificates.

For Lateral Admission

Candidates seeking admission through the Lateral Entry scheme should apply according to notifications published by the Directorate of Technical Education, Assam.
